Kalani was enrolled into dance classes by her mother because it was fun and cute to dress her up. Kalani's favorite style of dance to watch is Contemporary and her favorite style of dance to perform is Lyrical. If Kalani doesn't become a professional dancer, she will become a dance teacher, choreographer, and go to college. Kalani's specialties are Ballet and Lyrical and she has been dancing for 10 years.
Kalani was one of the 11 dancers who made it to Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition. Kalani made it though most of the first group challenge but because she didn't turn her foot out, the win went to Trinity. Kalani was placed in the Madonna trio with Gianna and Mckaylee and she made some errors, when she did her full back split, she had hips facing stage right and her supporting foot to the audience and Ricky thought she held back. Her performance was strong enough to move her on to the second week. Kalani was placed in a duet with Ally called Piano Passion and made it onto the third week. In the next week, there was a struggle for Kalani as she landed in the bottom 2 with Chloe and was spared from elimination. Kalani ended up with Tyler and Travis for a Hip-Hop trio called Rat Pack but ultimately it came down to her or Ally going home. Abby revealed she wasn't going to use her call-back card and sent Kalani home. At the beginning of episode 5, Abby revealed she had decided to use her callback card and bring Kalani back to the competition. Richy and Rachelle agreed with Abby's decision to bring Kalani back after watching her in the duet with Gianna called Twisted. Kalani was paired with Travis once again for a duet based on "Phantom of the Opera" and she was safe. Kalani was paired with Travis again the next week and while the dancers and moms backstage caught her mistakes, Abby didn't acknowledge any mistakes Kalani made except for her feet at her opening pose. Instead, Abby applauded that Kalani was the only dancer who did her turns in her bare feet. Kalani impressed the judges once more with her first solo of the season, "Rhinestone Cowgirl." Kalani moved on once more. Kalani was chosen to do a duet with JoJo by McKaylee which landed her in the bottom 2 with Trinity but was spared while Trinity was saved with Rachelle's Call-back card. Kalani won the group challenge in the "Diva Week" and decided to do a Sassy Jazz solo because her last one was well received. Abby wanted her to do the contemporary solo but Kalani stayed with her decision. Kalani's solo landed her in the bottom 2 once more, but sadly her best friend JoJo was sent home. In Down The Rabbit Hole she is given a white rabbit hip hop solo,a style which she got sent home doing before, she performs the solo, and oddly Richy, and Rachelle seem to like the solo, but Abby was not a huge fan,but no one is sent home so she moves on to next week. Kalani participated in the final group challenge doing her solo, "Rhinstone Cowgirl," but sadly she was eliminated after losing the challenge due to performing the weakest.
In 2011, Kalani participated in Disney Channel's Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off competition. The Grand Prize was a chance to perform on the Disney Channel series "Shake It Up." Kalani (10 at the time), competed with Arielle (12), Alyssa (12), and Kailey (14) in a group called AKsquared. The group made it al the way to the finale and won. The group performed in the episode "Camp It Up."
Kalani is rumored to be appearing on Dance Moms as a regular member of the team. If this is the case and if it is the same as Asia's case, Kalani will not be featured as much as her mother, Kira, will be. The rumor that Kalani might join ALDC is further supported by Kalani's recent duet with ALDC Dancer Maddie Ziegler at NUVO.
It seems that Kalani's appearance on Dance Moms is confirmed. Filming for an episode took place at Sheer Talent dance competition in New York. Kalani performed her duet with Maddie, "Two Sapphires", and won 1st place.
Kalani is only there for a week filling in for Payton Ackerman.
