Kalani was enrolled into dance classes by her mother because it was fun and cute to dress her up. Kalani's favorite style of dance to watch is Contemporary and her favorite style of dance to perform is Lyrical. If Kalani doesn't become a professional dancer, she will become a dance teacher, choreographer, and go to college. Kalani's specialties are Ballet and Lyrical and she has been dancing for 10 years.
On Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition
Kalani was one of the 11 dancers who made it to Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition. Kalani made it though most of the first group challenge but because she didn't turn her foot out, the win went to Trinity. Kalani was placed in the Madonna trio with Gianna and McKaylee and she made some errors, when she did her full back split, she had hips facing stage right and her supporting foot to the audience and Ricky thought she held back. Her performance was strong enough to move her on to the second week. Kalani was placed in a duet with Ally called Piano Passion and made it onto the third week. In the next week, there was a struggle for Kalani as she landed in the bottom 2 with Chloe and was spared from elimination. Kalani ended up with Tyler and Travis for a Hip-Hop trio called Rat Pack but ultimately it came down to her or Ally going home. Abby revealed she wasn't going to use her call-back card and sent Kalani home. At the beginning of episode 5, Abby revealed she had decided to use her call-back card and bring Kalani back to the competition. Richy and Rachelle agreed with Abby's decision to bring Kalani back after watching her in the duet with Gianna called Twisted. Kalani was paired with Travis once again for a duet based on "Phantom of the Opera" and she was safe. Kalani was paired with Travis again the next week and while the dancers and moms backstage caught her mistakes, Abby didn't acknowledge any mistakes Kalani made except for her feet at her opening pose. Instead, Abby applauded that Kalani was the only dancer who did her turns in her bare feet. Kalani impressed the judges once more with her first solo of the season, "Rhinestone Cowgirl." Kalani moved on once more. Kalani was chosen to do a duet with JoJo by McKaylee which landed her in the bottom 2 with Trinity but was spared while Trinity was saved with Rachelle's Call-back card. Kalani won the group challenge in "Diva Week" and decided to do a Sassy Jazz solo because her last one was well received. Abby wanted her to do the contemporary solo but Kalani stayed with her decision. Kalani's solo landed her in the bottom 2 once more, but sadly her best friend JoJo was sent home. In "Down The Rabbit Hole" she is given a white rabbit hip hop solo, a style which she got sent home doing before, she performs the solo, and oddly Richy and Rachelle seem to like the solo, but Abby was not a huge fan,but no one is sent home so she moves on to next week. Kalani participated in the final group challenge doing her solo, "Rhinestone Cowgirl", but sadly she was eliminated after losing the challenge due to performing the weakest.
On Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off
In 2011, Kalani participated in Disney Channel's Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off competition. The Grand Prize was a chance to perform on the Disney Channel series "Shake It Up." Kalani (10 at the time), competed with Arielle (14), Alyssa (12), and Kailey (14) in a group called AKsquared. The group made it all the way to the finale and won. The group performed in the episode "Camp It Up."
On Dance Moms
Kalani joined the team when they went to NUVO dance competition because Abby wanted a strong dancer to dance with maddie, not against her because Abby knew that Kalani was a really strong dancer and could probably beat Maddie but she didnt want to mess with Maddie's dance reputation. She had a duet with Maddie Zeigler called "Two Sapphires" that won at NUVO. Later at Sheer Talent, Abby wanted a winning duet so she decided to send "Two Sapphires" in. While the duet won, it led to the controversial fight between Kelly and Abby. That next week, Kira and Kalani were invited to pyramid and seemingly replaced Kelly, Brooke, and Paige. Kalani placed on the top of the pyramid as she not only won with the duet, but also told Abby she could improv a solo for her. Kalani then competed with Kendall in thier new duet "Framed" however Abby's attention was mainly on Kalani. Then she competed with the group in "Yum Yum", which won 1st place while their duet didn't place. Kalani ended up on the bottom of the pyramid next week becuase of the duet. However she made up for it with her solo "Swan Soulstice" and the group "The Bite", both winning 1st. She beat Chloe however Kira wanted her to go against Maddie. However Abby doesn't want Kalani to go against Maddie becuase she doesn't want Kalani to prove that she can beat Maddie, but prove she can win 1st without Kalani. The week after, Kalani does not appear on the show, with Abby saying that her disappearance was not due to her dancing, but her mother's insistence for Kalani to have a solo and breaking of the rules.
